Boston Massacre
A British force fires into an angry Boston crowd, killing five. This event sparks a revolutionary spirit throughout the colonies. -
Tea Party
Protesters dumped barrels of tea into the Boston harbor. This angered the British, as they were already in massive debt. -

Populace was angry at the increase of colonial taxes. Sparked revolutions around the world. -
Declaration of Independence
Congress approves Declaration of Independence.This document influences revolutions around the world -
Yorktown
The British surrender to the colonies at Yorktown. This victory ended the war. -
Treaty of Paris
This document granted unconditional independence and boundries for the former colonies. -
Crowd storms Bastille
Crowd of common people attack the Bastillesearching for military supplies. The Crowd then paraded through the city with the commander and chief magistrate's heads on pikes. -
Beginning of revolt in Haiti
Both slaves and black freedmen revolt against the local slave owners. Eventually abolished slavery, and achieved independence from Britain and France. -
Beheading of king Louis XVI
National Convention convicter Louis XVI of treason, and beheaded him using the guillotine. This became a symbol for the French revolution. -

Removed or restricted the monarch's authority with constitutions. Religion lost its inating place in Western intellectual life. -
Napoleon
Napoleon crowns himself emperor of Frace. He later goes on to gain more land for France, creating one of the most powerful empires in Euopre. -
Napoleonic Civil Code
Napoleon rewrites French Law. This changes woman's rights, as well as limiting free speech and free expression. -
Padre Hidalgo
Miguel Hidalgo rang the the church bells and urged the crowd to rise against the Spanish officials. This event is viewed as the launch of the Mexican revolution. -
Napoleon's first exile
After his unsuccessful attempt of invading Russia, Napoleon returns to France and is forced to abdicate the throne. He is then exiled to Elba. -
Congress of Vienna
Representatives from Britain, Russia, Austria, Prussia, and other countries, met to reestablish political order in Europe. They worked to create a peace settlement of conservative order. -
Defeat at Waterloo
After escaping Elba, Napoleon tries to regain power, but is defeated by an allied army at Waterloo, Belgium. He is again exiled, this time to St. Helena island, where he dies in 1821. -
Treaty of Nanking
The Qing were forced by the British to sign this document after the Opium War. This opened up numerous treaty ports, and benifited the British greatly. -
Beginning of Taiping Rebellion
Social problems and foregin intrustion sparked a civil war, the Taiping Rebellion. Hong Xiuquan founded the rebellion, and declared himself the brother of Jesus. -
End of the Taiping Rebellion
The rebels were eventually defeated by the Qing and an international force. One of the world's bloodiest civil wars ( 20- 30 million deaths) -
Meiji restoration
A rebellion was led against shogunate. This uprising was successful, Leading into the "Meiji Restoration" reign.
