Revolutions In The Americas
Revolution in Haiti was when the French colony which was Saint Domingue was the first Latin American territory to free themselfs from the European rules. About 30,000 French troops landed in Saint Domingue on January 1802. Toussaint L'Ouverture was captured and then later died in the French Alps prison in April 1803.
At the end General Dessalines declared the colony a independent country in January 1, 1804. -

Brazil's Royal Liberator
- Napoleon's armies invaled both Spain and Portugal in 1807.
- After Napoleon's defeated King John and the Portuguese government returned to Portugal six years later in 1815.
- Eight thousand Brazilians signed a petition for Dom Predro to rule and he agreed.
- At the end Dom Pedro officially declared Brazil's independence on September 7, 1822.

- Simon Bollivar's native Venezuela declared its independence fron Spain, but the struggle had only begun for independence.
- Bollivar had won the Venezuela's independecence in 1821.
- At the end In 1824 the Spainish colonies in Latin America won their freedom.

Mexico Ends Spanish Rules
- Padre Miguel Hidalgo took the first steps toward independence. He issued a call for rebellion against the Spainish on September 16, 1810.
- Jose Maria Morelos led the revolution for four years, but a creole officer defeated him in 1815.
- Events in Mexico took another turn when a revolution in Spain put a liberal group in power there in 1820.
- At the end Agustin de Iturbide, the man who defeated the rebal Padre Morelos proclaimed independence in 1821.
