lenin returned to Russia from exile in Switzerland.
SIGNIFICANCE: the significance of this was that when he got there he denounced the liberal provisional government that had replaced the tsarist regime. This helped him to gain support from Leon Trosky which inturn would allow him to do really what ever he wanted. -

stalin started the great purge arresting intellectuals, orginal Bolshevik revolutionaries and military officers who served with Lenin.
SIGNIFICANCE: this allowed stalin to impact the minds of the people and in a way brainwash them to believe in his theories wih nobody in his way.
