  • Sugar Act

    Was created to highly tax foreign sugars, molasses, and other goods that weren’t from any of Britain’s colonies; this lasted for 2 years.
  • Quartering Act

    This act implemented British soldiers with nowhere to stay could make colonists let them live in their house. If the house soldiers were staying in was too small then inns, livery stables and wine cellars would have to let them stay with them.
  • Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act made new taxes for tea, lead, glass, paper, and paint. This act also let British officials search colonists’ house or business and set up new courts in America to litigate smugglers with no local jury.
  • Boston Massacre

    This massacre started out as a street fight about rising taxes and led to 4,000 British troops against nearly 20,000 Boston residents. Half of Boston’s population attended victims’ funerals.
  • Boston Tea Party

    This was a protest about “Taxation without Representation”. American Colonists were furious with new taxes and acts and about 92,000 pounds of tea was dumped into the ocean.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    This was the one of the first battles of the Revolutionary
    War, the British were lead by Lieutenant Francis Smith.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill was one of the most gruesome battles of the Revolution. Nearly half of the 2,200 Redcoats fighting were either injured or killed.
  • Declaration of Independence

    This document was created for colonists to say they were not apart of the British colonies anymore; 6 people wrote and signed this.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    This was fought in two dire battles, which were fought eighteen days apart. This battle was a critical point in the war and brought more motivation and ambition for freedom for the colonists.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Battle of Cowpens was fought on a grazing pasture in South Carolina. This battle was a victory for the Patriots.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown was an exhausting fight for both sides but British were trapped and forced to surrender to the Americans.
  • Treaty of Paris 1783

    The Treaty ended the Revolutionary War and let the U.S be recognized as an individual nation and not a colony of Great Britain.
