Treaty of Paris
The treaty of Paris gives territory east of the Mississippi and in Canada to the British. It ended the French and Indian War. -
Proclamation line 1763
It forbade all settlers from settling west of the Appalacian Mountains in order to protect Native Land -
Sugar Act
The Sugar Act actually reducedd the tax on molasses, but reinforced the implementation (stopped smuggeling) of the text which agreed colonists who were usesd to a system of Salatory Neglect. -
Stamp Act
A tax on all paper documents in the colonies. Papers must have official stamp to prove they have paid the tax. -
Quartering Act
Under this act colonists must provide housing and supplies for British soldiers stationed in their colony. -
Declaratory Act
Repeals the Stamp Act, England needs to ensure the colonists know they're still in charge. The colonists did not like this because they foresaw more acts to come. -
Townshend Acts
Taxing important goods: Lead, paint, glass, paper, and tea. These taxes are for the sole purpose of generating revanue for England. -
Boston Massacre
First inncident between British and American colonists. 8 colonists died. This marked the begining of the American Revolution. -
Tea Act
Tried to reduce the amount of smuggled tea into the colonies. This increased the number of people that had to pay taxes. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonists dressed as indians dumped a whole shipment of tea that was being imported from England into Boston Harbor. -
Intollerable Acts
Britian took away the idea of self-government from the colonists due to the destroyed shipment of tea that was dumped into the harbor. -
First Continental Congress
First meeting similar to a government system to act together as united colonies. 12 out of the 13 colonies attended. -
Lexington and Concord
First military battle of the Revolutionary War. No one knows who fired the first shot. -
Second Continental Congress
Managed colonial war effort and pushed for the Declaration of Independance. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
British troops began occupying the city and were engaged by the colonists. Seen as British victory but they suffered many more casualties. -
Olive Branch Petition
Attempt by the colonists to ask the British to not wage full on war with them. -
Common Sense
Panflet written by Thomas Paine to call for the fight for freedom and independence. -
Declaration of Independance
Colonies announced that they were no longer part of Great Britian, but 13 new colonies. -

Written by Thomas Paine, he wanted to rid the americas of the torries and also to inspire fighters to fight harder. -
Battle of Princeton/ Trenton
GW and his army defeated the British near NJ. This was the first American victory of the war. -

Second battle of Saratoga and this one led to a British surrender. -

Major victory for the British in the southern theater. -
Battle of Kings Mountain
Major victory for the Patriot militia over a Loyalists malitia. -
Battle of Cowpens
Big victory for the Contenential Army in the southern theater. -

With the French's help, the colonists surrounded the British and forced them to surrender. -
Treaty of Paris
Marks the end of the Revolutionary War. Congress was fair in the distribution of debt so that another war did not start.
