George Washington
George Washington played a key role in the American Revolution, He was the first president of the Untited States, and one of the Founding Fathers. Originally he was against the revolution, but soon led many battles against the British. A majortiy of the battles he led he won. During the Revolution whe was the commander-in-chief of the continental army. -

Samuel Adams was one of the founding fathers of the United States. He was important to the American Revolution because he was a leader of the revolution, and once America won he shaped teh political culture of the U.S. -
Martha Custis Washington
Martha Washington played a big role in the American Revolution. Martha was the first wife of George Washington, who also played a huge role during the Revolution. Martha is considered the first lady, because her husband became the first president of the United States. -

John Adams was a strong supporter of the American independance against Great Britian ( the American Revolution). He was the first vice president of the United States and then the second president. -

Lord Cornwallis
Lord Cornwallis was a British General who fought in many different battles during the Rvolution. He was signifigant to the Revolution because he led the British into some of the battles. Lord Cornwallis also led some sucsessfulcampaigns during hte Revolution. -
Benedict Arenold
Benedict Arenold was improtant to the American Revolution because he originally started out fighting on the Americans side, but then switched to the British side. Still general on the Americans side, he planned to surrendor it to the British forces. When his plan was heard of he was assigned as a general on the British's army. -
Thomas Jefferson
LIke George Washington, Thomas Jefferson was a founding father. He played a signifigant role during the American Revolution because he served in the in the Continetal Congress for Virgina and later served as the wartime General for Virgina. -
Abigail Adams
Abigail Adams ( the wife of John Adams) contributed to the American Revolution.She and her children did what they could for the soldiers in the Continental army when they were basically in her front yard. She was close friends with Thomas Jefferson whom she exchanged political conversations with. During the Revolution being married to one of the founding fathers was a tough job... because she had so much imput into the disicions her husband made, she made a great Revolutionary wife. -
Treaty of Paris
The signing of the treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian war. In the treaty, France gave up all its mainland territories in North America. -
Proclamation of 1763
The purpose of the proclomation of 1763 prohibited the settlement of whites on Native Americans land. The settlers objected to the proclomation, and was replaced with the treaties of Fort Stanwix. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was passed on American Colonists. They were required to pay tax for every printed paper they used. The money went to protecting the American Frontier near the Appalacian Mountains. -
Quartering Act
The quartering act was passed stating that the American Colonies must provide shelter, food and drink to all British soldiers in the community/area. -
The Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts were a series of events that imposed duties on the import of paint, glass, paper lead and tea to the North American colonies. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was the killing of 5 colonists and injuring others. It started when an angry mob began throwing sticks and snowballs at British regulars because they were angry about the taxes. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party took place when a group of Patriots, who were protesting the American tea importation took 342 chests of tea and threw them into the harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were laws that were put in place by King George to punish the Colonists for dumping the tea into the Boston Harbor. -
1st Continental Congress
The 1st Continental Congress was a conversation between delegates of the 12 colonies (Georgia was not there). They called to meet in Pennsylvania early to discuss the intolerable acts- the Britsih had punished Boston for the Boston Tea party. -
Paul Revere
Paul Revere was signifigant to the American Revolution because he risked everything to make histroy and change the world.Paul Revere was a silversmith and was well known in Boston. He was one of the leaders if the Boston tea party and is well known for his midnight ride warning "the British are comin, the British are coming!" -
Lexington and Concord
The battes of Lexington and Concord started the American Revolutionary war. Paul Revere warned the towns that the redcoats were coming, and the minutemen began fighting the British. -
Loyalists
Loyalists were people that remained loyal to King George during the American Revolution. They were signifigant because they did not support the Revolution and when the Americans won, they fled to British North America. -
Patriots
Patriots were people that rebelled against English authority in the thirteen colonies. They were important to the American Revolution because they fought with the Revolution, not against it which helped America win its independence. -
Sons of Liberty
The Sons of Liberty were a group of patriots orginized together to protect the rights of colnists and go against Britsh abuse in the streets. -
Hessians
Hessians were soldiers that were contracted to serve under British authority. The soldiers mostly consisted of Germans.During hte Revolutionary wasr nearly half of them served the thirteen colonies. The Hessians were not only used in the Revolution,but in other British conflicts they used them as well. -
Common Sense
The Common Sense was a pamphlet published by Thomas Paine. The pamphlet stated arguments in favor of the American Revolution. The pamphlet was originally published anonymously, so he wouldn't cause any problems from the British, which he was arguing independence from. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of independence annonced that the thirteen colonies were now independent states. They are no longer part of the Britsh Empire. -
The Battle of Saratoga
The battle of Saratoga was the turning point in the American Revolution. The British General John Burgoyne fought the Americans and won. Even though his troops were weakend they attacked a sencond time, but this time the Americans won and the British were forced to retreat. -
The Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was one of the last battles during the American Revolution. George Washington leading a troop of 17,000, began a seige against the British General Lord Charles Cornwalllis in Yorktown, Virginia. -
Treaty of Paris
The treaty of Paris ended the American Revolution and recognized American Independence.
