Signifcance- Calmed the fears of the Indians who felt that the colonists would drive them from their land. -
Bostan Massacre
Event- British Troops killed 5 colonists as a mob had gathered in protest of the large number of British troops in the colonies as the Customs House on King St in Boston.
Signifcance- This was a large stepping stooner to propel the colonists into war with the British. As if they said that this was it, we had enough. -
Treaty of 1783
Event- Treaty created that ended Revolutionary war.
Sidnificane- It was very generous in new boundaries for the new U.S. and the U.S. became a large trading partner. -
Boston Tea Party
Event- A protest by "Sons of Liberty" where tea was dumped into Boston Harbor by colonist dresses as Native Americans.
Signifcance- Helped to rev up the start of the Revolutionary War. -
Lexington and Concord
Event- The first battle of the revolutionary war took place in Lexington Masachusetts.
Signifcance- The first battle of the revolutionary war and the phrase " The shot heard around the world" was made. It showed that the colonists meant business. -
Capture of Fort Ticonderoga
Event- Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold led a charge to overtake fort. They did with success and looted the belongings.
Signifcance- It impeded communiction between North and South British Units and helped the Colonists gain some momentum. -
Bunker Hill
Event Battla between colonists and British in Charlestown Massachusetts. Most fighting took place on Breeds Hill.
Signifcance- The newly formed Colonists Army lost only 400-600 casualties. The experience British lost over 1,000 or nearly half that fought. It gave the Colonists confidance thet they could defeat the British. -
Olive Branch Petition
Event- Petition ny colonists to King George stating their loyalty to crown but keeping their independence.
Signifcance- King George refused to read it and he further said that the colonists were rebelists. -
Publishing of Common Sense
Event- A pamphlet written by Thomas Paine. It inspired people to declare and fight for independence.
Significance- It rallied all from colonies including the rich and the poor. Referred to as the most popular pamphlet of Revolutionary Era. -
Dorchester Heights
Thousands of militiaman from the northern colonies converger on Boston pushing the British back within what were then relatively narrow city streets to take back Boston.
Signifcance- They won the battle to take back Boston. -
Battle of Saratoga
Event- Conclusively decided the fate of British General John Burgoyne's army in the American war of independence.
Signifcance- Are generally regarded as a turning piont in the war. Two battles were fought eiteen days apart on the same ground, 9 miles south of Saratoga, New york.
