Treaty Of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1763 by Great Britain, France, and Spain. The treaty marked the end of the Seven Years War and ended French presence in America. The French lost all of it's land in Canada and east of the Mississippi to the British and gave Louisiana to Spain. -

The Proclamation Line of 1763 was drawn by the British government to restrict colonial expansion and prevent conflict between the colonists and Indians. -

Stamp/Sugar/Quartering/Townshend/Intolerable Acts
Stamp Act - enforced tax on printed goods and required things to be printed on stamped paper.
Sugar Act - enforced tax on molasses and sugar.
Quartering Act - required colonists to house and accommodate British soldiers in the colonies.
Townshend Act - series of acts that were supposed to raise revenue in the colonies to pay the salaries of governers and judges.
Intolerable Acts - series of acts that were enforced to punish the Massachusetts colonists for the defiance. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was the breaking point of tensions between the colonists and British soldiers that stayed in Massachusetts. It resulted in the death five colonists. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston tea Party was an act of protest by the Sons of Liberty in defiance of the Tea Act. The Sons of Liberty threw crates of tea overboard the ships into the Boston Harbor. -

Every colony except Gerogia sent delegates to the congress. The colonies wanted to show a firm authority to Britain but the colonies had different goals of the congress and were not uniform in that aspect. -

The Battles of Lexington and Concord marked the outbreak of armed battles between the British and the colonists. -

The 2nd Continental Congress met after the Revolutionary War began at the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The Congess managed the war for the colonists and guided the colonies through the beginning phases of its independence. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The Battle of Bunker Hill occured on Breeds Hill which is adjacent to Bunker Hill. Although the British suffered huge losses they ended the day on top of the hill when the colonists had to retreat fro supplies. -
Olive Branch Petition
The Olive Branch Petition was the colonists last effort to aviod a full on war with Britain. It appealed to the King and asked for a cease in fighting to resolve the problems peacefully. -
Common Sense
Common Sense was a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine and it encouraged the British colonists to fight for their independence from Britain. Paine used language that was relatable to all classes and people in the colonies to unite them against a common enemy. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was the document that officially stated the separation of the thriteen colonies from the British Empire during the war. -
Battle of Princteon/Trenton
Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River on Christmas Day 1776. Him and his troops then went on and won two huge battles over the next 10 days, the battles of Princeton and Trenton, to take control of New Jersey and boost morale. -
Battle of Saratoga
The Battle of Saratoga was a decisive victory that allowed the colonists to win the Revolution. The American forces were able to surround a large British force to make them surrender. -

The Battles of Camden, Kings Mountain, and Cowpens were decisive, important battles in the recinquest of the South for the American forces. -
Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was the last major land battle between the British and American forces. The loss made the Biriths negoiate an end to the conflicts. -
