French and Indian War Begins
The French and Indian War is known as the 7 Years War. The English and the French fought for domination of North America, Caribbean, and India. -
French and Indian War Ends
The British had a territorial expansion, but the cost of the war raised Britain's debt. The British weren't satisfied with the military and financial help they got from the colonists. They, then, thought that the colonies should be taken control of by the British. -
Sugar Act
The British passed the Sugar Act, which forces the colonists to pay a 3 cent tax on sugar. It also increased taxes on other products like coffee and wine. -
Currency Act
There was no good curency to conduct trade, so they couldn't obtain trade from any other place other than Britain. Parliament passed the stamp act on September 1st, issuing Britain the control of the colonial currency system. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act required all newspapers, pamphlets, or any other legal documents to have a stamp or a British seal on them. The stamps for the documents cost money and once again, the colonists were not happy. They started the Stamp Act Congress and rebelled against the British. -
Quartering Act
The Quartering Act required the colonists to house British soldiers in Barracks provided by the colonies. If the Barracks were to small, then they would have to house them somewhere else, like in Inns or houses. -
Stamp Act Congress
The colonists were not happy about the Stamp Act and the Sugar Act. They wanted to send a message to the King of England an Parliament. Representatives from only nine colonies showed up at the congress. They created a declaration of rights. -
Townshend Revenue Act
The Townshend Revenue Act put taxes on oil, lead, paper, and tea and many other products. Once again, the colonists weren't happy about that. -
The Boston Massacre
The colonists did not like seeing British soldiers in Boston, so a patriot mob began. They were throwing sticks, sotnes,snowballs, and other objects. The colonists attacked a Britishs soldier and a captain called for more British soldiers and a fight began. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act wasn not made to get revenue from the colonies to Britain. The point of the Tea Act was to save the East India Company from bankrupcy. The colonists were only allowed to buy that certain tea, and that caused some colonists to be put out of business. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Colonists were still not liking the Tea Act and on December 16th, 1773, in Boston Harbor a group of Colonists from Massachusetts disguised a Mohawk Indians boarded 3 British three ships and they dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. The Boston Tea Party was in protest of the Tea Act. When the ships had arrived, the colonists demanded that they were returned back to England, but that was refused by the British, so that caused the Boston Tea Party. -
Boston Port Act
The Boston Port Act was one of the Intolerable Acts because fo the Boston Tea Party. Parliament passed the Boston Port Act, which closed the port of Boston and it also demanded the city's residents to pay for the tea that had been dumped into the harbor during the Boston Tea Party. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris ended the war between Great Britain and The United States. It established borders for the new nation. The colonists were happy that they weren't ruled by Britain anymore and they were free. -
