  • French and English Enlightenment

    Both events influenced many of the ideas that led up to the American and French Revolution. They taught separation of church and state, liberty, toleration, fraternity, constitutional government, and progress.
  • John Locke

    Thhe ideas of the three natural rights and the idea that citizens of a government give up some rights to said government were pivotal in the writing of the Declaration of Independence.
  • George Washington

    He set up a spy network during the war. The knowledge he had from serving the British along with what was gained from the spy network helped him led him to being one of the most significant reasons the Revolutionary War was won.
  • Lexington and Concord

    These battles were a major military victory for the Colonists, and this showed the British they were not welcome. They also kicked off the Revolutionary War.
  • Second Continental Congress

    This Congress was responsible for all strategy, army, and tresury matters during the Revolutionary War.
  • Bunker Hill

    The battle provided a confidence boost to the colonists, even though they lost. This was because they had inflicted significant casualties to the British despite being inexperienced.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    This document was the colonists last attempt at peace with the British in which the said they were loyal to the crown and asserted their rights as British citizens.
