The Sugar Act
The British Parliment put taxes on all imports of sugar and molasses. -
The Currency Act
The British Parliment passed the currency act to control the colonists' curency trade and converted them to shillings. -
The Stamp Act
British Parliment made the colonists pay taxes on any printed paper, documents, and stamps. -
The Townshend Act
British Parliment put taxes on lead, paint, glass, tea, and paper. -
The Tea Act
The British got permission to sell their tea for less than the Colonists were selling. They did not have enough money to lower the price of their tea to keep up with the British. -
The Boston Tea Party
British ships, filled with tea, were docked in the harbor. Colonists were so angry about the tea acts and taxes, 7,000 of them snuck onto the ships by dressing in Native American clothing. They dumped all of the tea on the ships over the side and into the harbor. -
Lexington and Concord
British soldiers were sent to Lexington and were to capture Samual Adams and John Hancock. The colinists found out about this plane and had Paul Revere to warn them. He was told to hang lanterns in the bell tower to show which way the British were coming from. It was either by land or water. Samual and John had someone warning them and keeping them safe, but later were captured by the British on their way to Concord. -
Bunker Hill
The Americans we set up on Breeds hill and the British marched up the hill three times. The first and second, the americans pushed them back down, but eventually we ran out of amo and the British won. -
Battle of New York/Long Island
British attacked colonists and pushed George Washington out of Long Island, and they won. -
Battle of Trenton
George Washington sent 2,400 American troops accross the river on Christmas to suprise attack the Hessions. It was the first victory. -
Battle of Saratoga
Only lasted 19 days, and was one of the first wins for the United States. Known as the turning point in the revolutionary war. 5,895 Hessians and British surrendered. The British and Hessian sent troops from Canada down to Fort Ticonderoga -
Battle of Yorktown
Cornwallis took his troops to attack at Yorktown, Virginia. Washington and his troops trapped Cornwallis, so he couldn't escape. Americans and French won. British surrendered at Yorktown.
