Hessians were German mercenaries rented out in units from German princes to whoever could pay the price. They were called Hessians by the British company because most of the soldiers came from Hesse-Kessel. The Hessians were hired by the British during the Revolutionary War. The Americans took advantage of the fact the Hessians werent British and sent propaganda promising reward for switing to the American side. On July 4th the war was over and the Hessians returned home to Germany. -

Benedict Arnold
Benedict Arnold was a general in the Revolutionary war who was initially a Patriot but then defected over to the British side. While still on the American side he got command of the fort at West Point, New York and planned to surrender it to British forces. On September 21st Arnold planned to meet with British Mayor Andre to discuss handing over his men. But they were discovered and Andre was hanged while Arnold ran to the British forces and defected. -
Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown is considered the most important battle in the American Revolution. The battle was between American General George Washington a host of 17,000and British General Charles Cornwallis a host of 9,000. George Washington forced Cornwallis to surrender but Cornwallis did not attend the official surrender ceremony pleading illness. The Battle of Yorktown ended the war in America. -

Lord Cornwallis was mostly known for his servce as General in the Revolutionary War. Cornwallis defeated America at the battle of Camden. Although he suffured the embarrasing defeat at Yorktown losing the war. -

George Washington was the First President of America foremost and a great general during the Revolutionary war. He believed in a free country without any overbearing rulers. When he was in office he chose to be called Mr.President instead of any other name such as sire of leige. On September 17th 1787 Washington signed the Constitution which still sets our way of life today.
