Proclamation of 1763
This proclamation allowed new opportunities for the colonies, and it established 4 new colonies. -
Abigail Adams
Wife of John Adams, and a supporter of independence. Famous for the many letters she sent during war. -
Stamp Act
This act further defrayed the expenses of defending,protecting, and securing. It also amended some parts from Parliment relating to trading and revenues. -
Quartering Act
This act was passed to punish mutiny and desertion, and better payment of the army and their quarters. -
Townshend Revenue Act
An act that adds taxes on glass, paints, oil, lead, paper, and tea. -
Boston Massacre
This was when a riot of the colonists occured. Although 5 people were shot, it was considered a massecre. -
John Adams
Cousin to sam Adams, and lawyer, who defended the British after the Boston Massecre. -
Boston Tea Party
Despite it's name, this event was when the colonists dumps crates of tea into the ocean, to protest against the taxes and the Townshend Act. -
Sons of Liberty

Leader of the Sons of Liberty. He was a popular leader and was cousin to John Adams. -
Intolerable Acts
The colonists at this time were facing 5 british laws that they couldn't handle, including the Quartering Act. -
1st Continental Congress
The congress met and consisted of of 13 colonies as delegates (Georgia didn't attend). -
Paul Revere
He was one of the people to warn the many towns about the advancing British forces. -
Lexington and Concord
This was a big part, as the british were sent to capture Clonial leaders and sieze gunpowder. -
George Washington
He fought in the French-Indian war. He was a famous General, and was the 1st president. -
Loyalists
Colonists who were loyal to King George -
Benedict Arnold
He was a war general/hero, who then became a traitor. -
Common Sense
This was published to challenge the authority of the British and the royal monarchy. -
Thomas Paine
Author of Common Sense, and he helped gain support for the Revolutionary War. -
Declaration of Independence
This declared independence from England. -
Thomas Jefferson
Wrote the Declaration of Independence. -
Patriots
The colonists who wanted freedom from England and rebeled against King George. -
Hessians
German mercenaries who were paid 25 cents to fight for the British mercenary. -
Lord Cornwallis
He was the one who helpedcapture Fort Lee from Nathanael Greene -
Battle of Saratoga
The British used a divide and conquer startagy in this war, starting from Canada, then going down to claim America. In the end, the colonists made many of the british forces, including Burgoyne, surrender their arms. -
Battle of Yorktown
At this battle, Cornwallis surrounded by land and sea, making the British surrender. -
Treaty of Paris
The treaty that ended the Revolutionary War. -
Treaty of Paris
The U.S. was granted territory as far west as the Mississippi River, more than a year after the last shots were fired. -
