The Treaty of Paris of 1763
The Treaty of Paris was what ended the French and Indian war, and what gave a ton of land to the British. It was a peace treaty between France and England. -
Proclamation of 1763
The King issued a Proclamation in which colonists were not allowed to settle in the land they had gotten from the French. The Indians were pretty much protected by Britain. This was what had started the revolutionary war; American colonists were furious that all this land they were given was taken away. -
Loyalists
Loyalists were American Colonists that stayed loyal to the King of Great Britain, and considered themselves still as British. -
Patriots
Patriots were all American. They were opposed against Great Britain and Loyalists, and would fight for their freedom. -
Thomas Paine
Thomas Paine was the author of two highly influential pamphlets which encouraged the Patriots to fight for freedom. -
Hessians
The Hessians were German Soldiers that helped the British. -
Martha Custis Washington
Martha Washington was George Washington's wife, and lead the role of being his 'caretaker' during the Revolution. -

The Stamp Act
The Stamo act was one of the King's first serious tries of governing the colonies. It fueled the colonists opposition against Britain, for they shouldn't get taxed for a country that they don't live in. -
The Quartering Act of 1765
The Quartering Act was an act that would punish rebellion and desertion against the King, and would also bring better payment to the army. -
The Townshend Act
Bostonians, being furios with taxes on almost everything, acted out in a way of rebellion, mobs of people argueing against all the taxes. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a "street fight" between patriots and British Soldiers in which the Patriots threw sticks, stones, snowballs, pretty much anything, while the soldiers were armed. Several colonists were killed during the massacre. -
Boston Tea Party
Bostonians, furious with all the taxes, throw English tea into the harbour as an act of rebellion against Great Britain. -
Sons of Liberty
A group of American Patriots formed to fight for freedom. They were best known for their under-taking of the Boston Tea Party. -

Sam Adams
Sam Adams, cousin of John Adams, was chosen to be a member of the First Continential Congress, and in 1776, was one of the first to sign the Declaration of Independence. -
John Adams
John Adams was a delegate to the Continential congress and was the second US president. -
Abigail Adams
Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams, was known for sending letters to John while he was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the Continential Congress. She was also the second First Lady. -

A group of elected delegates from each state, except for Georgia, met at Carpenter's Hall and tried to look as if they had authority over Great Britain. -
Paul Revere
Paul Revere made a major role in the American Revolutionary war when he rode across the country, warning people on the British Soldier's plans to attack. -
Lexington and Concord
General Gage of the British, had a plan to send out British Soldiers to attack at destinations Lexington and Concord. His plan was leaked out by spies and friends of Americans though, so it didn't see to the end. -
The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was adopted by Congress, and John Dunlap printed out 24 copies known as the "Dunlap Broadsides". The Declaration declared freedom from the British. -
Thomas Jeffereson
Thomas Jeffereson was one of the Founding Fathers, and was the author of the Declaration of Independence. He "created" our independence. He was also the 3rd president. -
Battle of Saratoga
This battle was a turning point in the Revolutionary War, that decided which path British General John Burgoyne's army would take. The Americans won a stunning victory. -
Benedict Arnold
Benedict Aronold, originally a general for the American Army in the American Revolutionary War, "betrayed" the patriots and then became general in the British Army. -
Battle of Yorktown
This battle was one of the most important battles in the revolutionary war, lead by General George Washington, leaving them with a victory to remember. -
George Washington
George Washington, after his stunning victory at Battle of Yorktown, then many years later became the first president of the Untited States. From Founding Father to General to President, George Washington had a huge impact on the Revolution. -
Lord Cornwallis
After surrendering at Battle of Yorktown, British Officer Cornwallis had started significant hostilities in North America. -
The Treaty of Paris 1783
This treaty ended the Revolutionary war, creating a negotiation between Great Britain and America.
