The Quartering Acts
When soldiers came home after fighting, they were allowed to stay at anyone’s house. If the family didn’t like it they had to deal with it. For more info . -
Lexington and Concord
General Gage had a plan to send his men to Lexington and capture Sam Adams and John Hancock, and then they would seize the gunpowder. Two lanterns hanging from a church warned people that they were going. The word spread and so the militia waited at Lexington and Concord to defend their town. Click here to visit UShistory.org -
Battle at Bunker Hill
Many rebels poured into England wanting to drive the colonies out of Boston. The rebel army took position on the hill near Boston. They fought until all their bullets were gone. Although they won, about 1,000 red coats were killed. Click here for more info -
Paoli Massacre
After the battle of the clouds, George Washington and his men left, and left behind Anthony Wayne. Lord Howe was never informed so he changed his plans and then attacked Anthony on accident and killed him. For more info click here -
Valley Forge
When the continental army and their leader George Washington had to stay in the middle of a valley. There was no food and their clothes were old and worn away. As winter approached, they all got very sick and some of them died. -
