Colonist sent a letter to King George III demanding for their rights to be restored. The king rejected and responded with force. -

The first revolutionary battle was fought at Lexington and Concord, and is known as the shot heard around the world. -
First Battle of Fort Ticonderoga
Without gunfire, the colonist captured Fort Ticonderoga, which provided them with great access to suplies. Unfortunately, it was not long before the British regained the territory. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
This was a moral victory for the colonist, because it proved they could fight against a well trained army. -
Declaration of Independence signed
The 2nd continental congress met to sign the Declaration of Independence, which declared themselves their own country. -
Battle of Trenton
The Battle of Trenton gave the colonies a moral boost and gave hope that they could win the war. -
The Battle of Saratoga
The turning point in the Revolutionary War. The victory for the colonist secured French aid, which was a leading factor to their winning the Revolutionary War. -
The Battle of Yorktown
Corwallis' surrender at Yorktown which ended the war in victory for the colonist. -
The Treaty of Paris
This document officially ended the Revolutionary War. -
