Texas-Cherokee Treaty
A treaty between the Texas commissioners (Sam Houston and John Forbes) and the Cherokee nation was made in order to ensure that the Cherokee would not join the Mexicans in the war against Texas succession. the treaty agreed on many things such as peace taxes, trade, and land. the treaty was not ratified by the Texas government and caused hostilities instead of peace. https://www.tsl.texas.gov/exhibits/texas175/cherokee.html -
The Alamo besieged
The Alamo was under siege and the Texans were completely outnumbered, the leader, William Barret Travis, sent for reinforcements though very little came. Travis stated how he needed reinforcements and that the Mexicans already outnumbered him while also receiving reinforcements daily. Texas Independance
The Texans were unhappy with the treatment they had received from the Mexican government and similar to the 13 English colonies before them, they sought independence. Texas Naval battles
Texas established the need for any armed ships to take up arms against Mexican ships that were suppling the Mexican advance. The Liberty and the Invincible were two of Texas' ships that were successful in intercepting Mexican supplies. This order called for all armed ships which meant private ships and the employment of privateers.

A constitution for Texas was drafted which laid out the form that the Texas government should take. the government has similarities to the US government.

The Battle at San Jacinto
Sam Houston chose not to take his troops to fight Santa Ana after the alamo but instead chose to fight him at San Jacinto where the Texan forces won. Houston saw this as his last opportunity to save Texas and he was successful. https://www.tsl.texas.gov/exhibits/texas175/houston_sanjacinto.html

Treaty of Velasco
After a defeat of the Mexican forces by the Texan forces, Santa Ana signed two treaties with Texas saying that he would not fight against Texas again or rally anyone else to fight with Texas. He also agreed that he would fight for peace in the Mexican government and try to make trade treaties. Passport of Emily West
Emily west was a free African American captured by the Mexican army and forced to accompany them. Popular myth suggests she distracted Santa Ana leading to a Texan victory.
