Stamp act
The act was used to impose tax on paper. The colonist were also very upset about this and felt it was unfair. The British kept the act in play even with the complaints. -
Quartering act
This act forced colonist to supply and provide barracks for British soldiers. This caused the colonist to be even more angered but the soldiers would either beat or kill anyone who retaliated. -
Townshend acts
This made colonist pay colonial government officials and judges to show loyalty to the crown. The colonist were upset that they had to pay extra tax to show loyalty. -
Tea act
It made companies import tea through Britain to tax it before it made it to the colonies. The colonist didn’t like how the British was taking the colonist property. The British kept this act in play until the Boston Tea Party. -
Intolerable acts
The intolerable acts were used to punish the colonist involved with the Boston Tea Party. The colonist were upset that they were punished even if they weren’t involved.
