Writs of Assistance
These were like modern-day search or arrest warrants except that they did not require any evidence from the king to issue. Eventually though this sparked the American Revolution when colonist decided they didn't like these rules and declared independence. -
Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 was a boundary marked by the Appalachian Mountains used by the British to prohibited Anglo-American colonists from building lives on land settled by the French. This pushed the colonies into rebellion! -
Sugar Act
This act set into place by the king lowered the amount of sugar the colonies could trade within the new world. This benefited the mother country and hurt the colonists so this made surviving a little harder the it already was. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was the first taxing decision on the new American colonies. It required them to pay a tax that was represented by a stamp and other variations of documentation. Eventually the issue of taxation forced colonists to raise an army rebellion against the British. -
Quartering Act
This act forced colonists to give up any spare rooms or beds in their homes for the red-coat soldiers of the king. You were required to give spare food, drink, and fuel. This was not a liked practice among the colonists who must have felt their personal space and boundaries pushed. -
Revenue (Townshend) Act
The Townshend Act was another tax placed on the colonist to help pay expenses in the colonies. It included taxes on things like glass, lead, paint, paper, and even tea. Even so, this raised colonial resistance when colonists started boycotting British goods. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a major turning point in many colonist beliefs toward the system of the king. A patriot mob throwing sticks and stones at a group of red coats during a protest was fired upon and killed. This showed the colonists people that their views and lives were not worth those of the British King. -
Tea Act
This act made the East Indian England Tea Company a monopoly by making it the only tea allowed to be sold in the New World. This made the tea quite expensive and unattainable. This furthers the divide between Kingsman and the Patriots as they felt they were being scammed out of money and resources. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was another major turning point in the minds the of colonists. Due to the high taxes being placed on the colonists of the New World, they decided they had enough and dressed up as Native Americans to storm a cargo ship carrying British Tea. They threw the tea into the harbor making it a waste. This helped show the patients they could do more than just talk about their problems. -
Intolerable Acts
These were a series of four different acts from the kings in retaliation to the Boston Tea Party. First, they closed the Port of Boston, second, they changed the local government to someone appointed by the king, third, the king allowed his officers to have fair trials and extraditions, and fourth, they forced New World Citizens to allow red coat soldiers to occupy their homes. -
First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress was 12 of Britains thirteen American colonists meeting to discuss Americas growing British aggression. Their biggest accomplishment was their determination to boycott British goods unless there was an end to the Intolerable Acts. -
Lexington and Concord
Lexington and Concord is most commonly known as the "shot heard around the world" and marked the start of the American War of Independence. This essentially confirmed alienation with the mother country causing the Siege of Boston and the evacuation of the British. -
Second Continental Congress
The Second Continental Congress was the beginning of a nation-wide government. They raised militaries, directed strategies, appointing diplomats, and wrote petitions. This is one of the only decisions that didn't have a huge impact on colonial resistance, instead it unified the colonies against parliament. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence is the binding document of the original thirteen states that declared their independence from the monarchy of England. It helps to push the patriot ideas outward and makes them official. It likely helped those on the brim of loyalty to the king be ready for their independence and freedom. -

Battle of Saratoga
The Battle of Saratoga is most commonly known as the turning point in the Revolutionary War, which helped secure the support from foreign countries needed to win the war. Instead if having a negative impact on colonial resistance it lifted patriot morale, and gave hope of independence. -

Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was a famous battle because it basically concluded the Revolutionary War. An alliance from the French Navy and Army helped the colonists defeat the English. The surrender of the great General Cornwallis was a major turning point. This likely helps motivate the rest of the patriots or indifferent people to find their hope in the cause.
