French and Indian War
War between Britain and the French and Indians of North America. Most battles took place in Canada. Great Britain won. -
Sugar Act
A three cent tax on sugar coffee and more. Banned French wine and rum. Only some of the population was affected but they were very vocal. -

The sons of liberty was formed during this because everything paper related needed the stamp. The stamp costed money that the colonist hadn’t had to pay for many years. -

The stamp act was repealed because of a diplomatic body formed. This party was called the stamp act congress. -

A tax on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. Great Britain sent more troops after protests and rebellion. -
The Boston Massacre
Five colonists were shot, one was a black man who died. Deepened the distrust between Great Britain and the Colonies. -
Boston Tea Party
Angry and disgusted colonist dumped 342 whole crates of tea into the boston harbor. Similar instanced occurred later. -

A group of 56 delegates. They came from 12 colonies excluding Georgia. -

No one one knows who fired the first shot. It is known a sthe “shot heard around the world.” -
The Second Continental Congress
Met during the Revolutionary war and discussed the declaration of independence and other things. It continued through the summer. -
George Washington named Commander in Chief
He was the first President of the US. He fought with the british in the French and Indian War. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
It was a two day engagement. The Americans fought until they were out of ammunition. It was actually fought on Breed’s hill. -
Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" published
Wrote the article Common Sense. He published it inflaming the American Revolution. -
The British evacuate Boston
George Washington had placed fortifications and canons in a successful way so that the British had to evacuate. The British had hoped to use ships to ruin the set-up but a storm moved in giving the colonist enough time to secure it. -
Richard Henry Lee proposes Independence
The colonies should unite against Great Britain. Also they should seek foreign allegiance and continue to create a government. -
Declaration of Independence signed
Many prominent Americans signed it. Great Britain decided to fight. -
Declaration of Independence adopted
It was written by Thomas Jefferson. It declared the thirteen colonies independent.
