Great Leap Forward
Mao wanted to increase China's production. The Great Leap Forward created large collective farms callid communes, which were poorly planned and caused a famine that killed about 20 million people. -
Cultural Revolution
The student-formed Red Guards started the Cultural Revolution which was intended to form a society where all were equal. The worker was celebrated, while the intellectual were punished. -
Khmer Rouge
The Khmer Rouge were Cambodian Communist rebels who set up a terrible government led by Pol Pot. His followers killed over two million people, almost a quarter of the population. The Vietnamese took over in 1978. -
Fall of Saigon
The North Vietnamese troops invaded the capital of South Vietnam. U.S. troops and officials evacuated the area and Vietnam slowly became a Communist state.
