Distress Calls From Planes
A number of phone calls were able to be made on the hijacked planes from passengers and crew members to their family and friends. They knew that those phone calls were likely to be their last, so they took the time to say goodbye to their loved ones -
Time The First Flight Took Off
On the morning of September 11th 2001, flight 11 from American Airlines took of headed to Los Angeles at 7:59 am. This flight would be the first of four that would be hijacked during that day. -
Time The Second Flight Took Off
The second flight to be hijacked that day was flight 175 from American Airlines which took off 15 minutes after the flight 11. Flight 175 was also headed to Los Angeles with 65 people. -
Time The Third Flight Took Off
The third of four flights that were hijacked during 9/11 was American Airlines flight 77 that took off at 8:20 am which was four minutes after the second one. This flight was also going to Los Angeles and had 64 people aboard. -
Time The Fourth Flight Took Off
The last of the four planes that were hijacks that day was flight 93 which was headed to San Francisco took of at 8:41 am and had 44 people aboard. -
Time Flight 11 Crashed And Its Location
American Airlines flight 11 crashed into the North tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 am which was the first of the hijacked planes to cause terror to Americans around the country. The crash killed everyone aboard the flight. -
Time Flight 175 Crashed And Its Location
American Airlines flight 175 crashed into the South tower of the World Trade Center at 9:03. This plane struck the tower just 17 minutes after flight 11 hit the North tower. -
Time Flight 77 Crashed And Its Location
Unlike the previous two hijacked planes on September 11th, flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon in Washington DC and killed everyone aboard. This was the first attack on the Pentagon since the War of 1812 in which the British burned the city. -
Time Flight 93 Crashed And Its Location
The final plane to crash during that day was Flight 93 and landed in a field in Pennsylvania killing everyone aboard, but killing nobody on the ground. This was the only flight that was not able to hit its target. -
Collapse of the Word Trade Center 1
The South tower of the World Trade Center was the first to collapse after only 56 minutes of being struck. Almost everyone in that building was killed. -
Collaspe of the World Trade Center 2
The South tower of the World Trade Center was the second tower to collaspe at 10:28 am and no one was able to escape the impact zone or top floors that were struck by flight 11. -
President Bush is Informed of the Attacks
President was in a classroom in Florida reading to children when he was informed of the attacks on September 11th. He continued to read to the children in a dazed and confused state. -
All Flights Are Grouned
Shortly after the attacks the FAA orders all planes out of the air for safety reasons. This caused air traffic controllers to search for alternate airports to land. -

Later that day on September 11th after the deadly attacks on the US, President Bush takes to the news to deliever a speech that he hoped would ease many Americans fears and worries about the near future. -

The day of September 20th 2001 was famous for the reason that President Bush helped rally the nation together after the attacks on 9/11. His speech would help inspire Americans to stay strong during these hard times.
