The First Continental Congress
Delegates from all 13 colonies except Georgia met together in order to organize protests and resistance against British parliaments taxing. -
The Second Continental Congress
The second continental congress was the representatives that had previously gotten together in reaction to British taxation. This time they drafted the Declaration of Independence and made decisions regarding the continental army. -
The Olive Branch Petition
This petition was the colonist's final attempt to make peace with the British government before going to war. -
The Prohibitory Act
This act cut off trade between the colonies and England, took the colonies out of the King´s protection, and officially put them at war with each other. -
The Declaration of Independence
This document claimed Independence for the colonies to become their own Union. This was the birth of the United States.
