  • Reiki Developed

    Reiki known as the healing touch. Mataji Kawakami created Reiki Ryoho in 1914 he was the author of Reiki Healing and Its Effects and was published 1919.
  • Established Institute

    Usui-Sensei or Mikao Usui the founder established an Institute begins teaching the practice in Japan on Mt. Kurama, Reiki cure was openly to the public and treatment was given to. People all over came to ask for guidance and cure, many came and over-flowed with lines of people.
  • Great Earthquake

    In Tokyo a big fire was caused by a big earthquake causing many people to be injured. Usui-Sensei felt deep anxiety for the people who were hurt and engaging on curing everyone with Reiki.
  • Rebuilt Training Center for Practice of Reiki

    The training center became too small when receiving a lot of visitors, Usui built a new house in Nakano outside the city in February, 1925. As his reputation increased he began traveling to practice Reiki and sharing with people until he caught a diseaseand passed at age sixty-two.
  • Passing of Founder Usui

    The founder Usui passed away, leaves his techniques and teachings to successors, including Chujiro Hayashi
  • The Inscription on the Usui Memorial

    The history of Usui Reiki begins with a look at the inscription on the memorial stone that was erected in 1927 in Tokyo, Japan in memory of Mikao Usui Sensei, founder of the Usui Reiki healing system. He started newly a method to improve body and spirit based on Reiki in the universe. Hearing of the rumor, people who would like to learn the treatment and undergo the cure gathered from all quarters all at once. Really, it was very busy indeed.

    Reiki began expanding to other places of the world when a Hawaiian woman learns Reiki from Hayashi in Japan and brings it and introduces it to the Western world.

    Hawayo Takata begins teaching Reiki in Hawaii and the manland of the United States
  • Reiki becoming popular in the West

    Reiki starts becoming more popular in the western world with Takata training other Reiki masters before her death in 1980.
  • Expanding across Europe

    Reiki begins expanding across Europe and other parts of the world more.
  • Diversification of Reiki Practice

    various schools and styles of Reiki emerge, leading to diversifcation of practices and teachings.

    Reiki becomes integrates into some medical practices and wellness. Also becomes scientific research into Reiki as well as more potential benefits behind Reiki.

    Reiki to present day continues to grow around the world with an increasing number of practitioners and clients worldwide.
