    To establish the name of a refugee, one must flee from their home country due to war and political problems. (Entry 1)
  • Referral

    The case of the refugee will be referred to the United States Resettlement Program. (Entry 2)
  • Interview Process

    Interview Process
    a United Nations High Commissioners for Refugees will come into the country and interview the refugee. This will determine their case and if the case is defined as a refugee. (Entry 3)
  • Approval of the Case

    The case is either approved from the United Nations High Commissioners for Refugee. (Entry 4)
  • Linked with an Organization

    The case is given to an organization that will help the refugees transition into a different culture.(Entry 3)
  • Pre-Travel- Culture Orientation, Medical Test, Security Clearance

    The organization is made sure they can help another case. Also the refugees go through a cultural orientation, they are exposed to the U.S culture. As well they medically tested for diseases, and the refugees go through scrutiny clearance. (Entry 4)
  • Traveling and Arrival

    The refugees now travel(by plane or boat) to the U.S. When they arrive the organization they were linked too will greet them and help them out adjusting. The refugees now try to find a job, and experience the new culture. (Entry 5)
  • Apply for Social Security/ form I-94

    Both Social Security and I-94 will help the refugee apply for work within the community. (Entry 5 and 6)
  • Apply for Permanent Residency (Green Card)

    After one year of arriving in the U.S, a refugee will loose the label of a "refugee" and can apply for a green card. (Entry 6)
  • Officially Become a U.S Citizen: Naturalization

    Officially Become a U.S Citizen: Naturalization
    After 5 years of living in the U.S, refugees are encouraged to go through the Naturalization process and become a U.S citizen. This is a daunting task, the refugee must understand what comes along with being a refugee in the U.S. (Entry 10)
