Temprance Movement (Social)
The Temprance movement was when the people were drinking too much. To solve this problem they formed groups called the American Temprance Union urging people to stop drinking and urging the goverment to prohibit alchohol. This was a progess for America it helped America knowing that if they wanted to make something a law they can make it happen like banning the alchohol. -
Slavery
This time period the South was relying on the slaves to work on their plantations. The Gang and task system was used often in this time period. This is when Fredrick Douglas began speaking about slavery and how he was against it.This time period was a history in progress because it helped the people in the South and it was the start of the anti-slavery movement. -
Seneca Falls Convention (Political)
This was organized by Luceretia Matt and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, It was the start of the women's movement. During the convention the "Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions" was formed. It was based off of the Declaration of Independence, in this declaration the women wanted all the same rights as men like voting rights. This was a history in progress becasue it was the first step to the rights the women have in America today. -
Event that lead to Manifest Destiny
The Abolitionist movement was one event that lead to Manifest Destiny. It was the the idea that slavery should be removed right away.
