  • Bringing Them Home

    The 680-page "Bringing Them Home" report is released by The National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from their Families. It was tabled in the Federal Parliament on 26 May 1997.
  • Australian Reconciliation Conference

    The conference is held in Melbourne. This is to gather Australians and discuss the Indigenous issues. Almost 1800 people across different occupations attented.
  • National Sorry Day

    Commemorated for the first time on the 26th of May 1998. This is to remember the mistreatement of the country's Aboriginial people.
  • National Reconciliation Week- Harbour Bridge

    Nearly 300,000 people walked across Sydney Harbour Bridge, showing supposet for the reconciliation process.
  • Council of Aboriginal Reconciliation Final Report

    Final report of the Council of Aboriginal Reconciliation is handed in to John Howard and the Australian Parliament at Corroboree 2000.
  • Reconciliation Australia is established

    Reconciliation Australia is an independent, non-profit organisation. It is the national expert body on reconciliation Australia. Established after the disbandment of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation (CAR) in 2000.
  • Stolen Generations Memorial

    The Commonwealth Government decides to establish a memorial to the Stolen Generations at the Reconciliation Place in Canberra.
  • National Reconciliation Planning Workshop

    The workship is held in Canberra and attented by the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
  • Close the Gap campaign

    Following the release of the Social Justice Report 2005, Close the Gap campaign is developed to assist in Indigenous health equality.
  • Reconciliation Action Plan

    The Reconciliation Action Plan by Reconciliation Australia begins. It is a strategy that allows organisations to contribute to reconcile Australia. This builds on three key concepts: relationships, respect and opportunities.
  • Celebrated 40th anniversary

    Australia celebrates the 1967 referendum, where more than 90% of Australians voted to legislate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and other Indigenous Australians to be included in the official estimates of the Australian population.
  • Northern Territory Emergency Response (NTER)

    The Australian Government begins the Northern Territory Emergency Response. It addresses the disproportionate levels of violence, heath, housing, emplyment and justice of Indigenous people in Northern Territory.
  • COAG commits $4.6 billion towards "Closing the Gap on Indigenous Disadvantage

    Council of Australian Governments (COAG) contributes $4.6 billion for projects in health, housing, early childhood development, economic participation and remote service delivery.
  • Kevin Rudd apologises

    On behalf of the Australian Parliament, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd formally apologises to the Stolen Generation, acknowledging the decades of mistreatment of Indigenous Australians.
