Mom Reading
As far back as I can remember, my Mother would read to my sister and I. Because of this, I was introduced to books. -
Kindergarten
I loved reading time in school. We would sit in a circle and the teacher would read, giving life to the characters on the pages. -
READING TO CLASSMATES
In Kindergarten I would "read" to my classmates. This made me want to actually learn how to read. (I memorized the stories or looked at the picture and made up the stories). -
Chapter Books
I LOVED being introduced to chapter books. For me it was a story that just keep going. Chapter books helped me see that there was even more to read. -
Books & Movies
In school, we would often read the book and then watch the movie afterwards. I never really enjoyed the movies over the books. Because of this, I learned that reading the book is 100 times better than watching the movie -
Summer time
Reading in the summer months is a fond memory of mine. We would go to the library, check out books and read them all summer long. I enjoyed this because I got to the choose the books I was reading. It was not an assignment, but a way for me to connect willing to other subjects that interested me. -
Aunt Gail
As a preteen and teen, I was the only one who really took to reading for pleasure. My Aunt Gail took note of this and encouraged my love for reading. She would often take me book shopping on the weekends to ensure I was never without a book! -
High School
In High School English classes, I was taught how to truly read, dissect and interrupt books. I was shown that often, the story isn't just about the words on the pages, but hidden meanings and thoughts were placed by the authors. -
Classic and Modern Day
Because there are so many books to choose from I am able to choose which one I will read next depending on my mood. Whether it be a classic novel, Modern Day, Religious, or Self-Help, knowledge can be found in them all and that is what makes me want to continue to read book after book. -
Auntie Reads
Reading to my nieces and nephews has been one of the greatest joys of my life. To see them became excited about reading and getting lost in a story, makes me fall in love with reading all over again. I hope they too fall in love with reading!
