    Learned to read
My parents and grandma worked with me while I learned how to read. I also had an older brother who was in kindergarten, so I practiced by reading all of the books he brought home. My favorite book was "Fritz and the Beautiful Horses" and I read that one almost everyday.

    Started kindergarten reading chapter books
I went into kindergarten reading books like Junie B. Jones, so I was ahead of all of my classmates when it came to reading.
  • Magic Tree House

    Magic Tree House
This was one of my brother's favorite series to read, so I read these so we could talk about them more. I ended up reading more than he did because he ended up liking a new series, but I loved being able to get to learn a little history in a fun way.

I started reading the first one at the beginning of August and finished the last one in February. I loved it and anywhere I went I had one of the books with me. I had already loved reading, but this introduced me into reading bigger series and I started reading bigger books after this.

    Moved to Las Vegas
When I first moved to Las Vegas, I didn't know many people, so I read a lot during that time. I started getting into more YA books and started reading the Hunger Games series, which is one of my favorites still to this day.
  • 1984

    1984
This was the book I had to read during covid during my junior year. I really enjoyed it because I thought the dystopian aspect was very intriguing, but I hated reading it because it was dreadfully boring. My friends and I had a lot of debates about the book and it was fun getting to know others' opinions about it as well.
  • Senior Year English

    Senior Year English
My senior year I took dual credit English 101 and 102. This class was introducing us how to read more academic and research papers. This was very important as this has allowed me to be able to confidently decipher the important information and know how to find the details in the papers.
  • Musical Scripts

    Musical Scripts
I was in 2 musicals my senior year. In order to properly perform the musical, the lines must be memorized. So, I spent many months preparing to play Grandma Addams and Snoopy. While it is a different kind of reading, it is one of the most fun ways to learn a story because you get to memorize and portray a character how you think they should be portrayed.
