I began to read small books on my own
I remember being so proud of myself; and I loved to read this one book that has a pink cover and it was all about baking cookies with mom. I cannot remember what it was for the life of me, but I remember bringing it into class during my “Star student” week. -
I read the first Harry Potter
I remember having to get explicit permission to read Harry Potter and the Socerers Stone in second grade. -
Series of Unfortunate Events
The movie was about to come out, and for the first time I found myself wanting to read the books instead of just watching the movies. I found myself after wat. ching the movie comparing and contrasting what I liked and what I did not like about the movie and identifying what is different from the movie to the book -
Did research on Dr. Martin Luther King
For a school assignment I had to do research on a civil rights activist. I chose Dr. Martin Luther King because him and I share a birthday. Through this project it began to birth on me a desire to see equality all across America. It birthed in me a desire and a heart for those who are not privileged and to fight for what I believe is right. -
I finished the Harry Potter series
The Harry Potter series was an influential part of my childhood. It taught me to love reading and to use my imagination. It was a good reminder that reading can take you to another place when life seems to be so hard. It showed me that good always prevails in the end. -
2011
My junior year of high school, I began to really find a love and appreciation for poetry. I found myself reading more and more poetry on my own, loving the way that words seamlessly went together. Flowing one word to the next. I began to find a beauty in the way that words mean someth8ng to different people. -
I started reading my Bible
When I started to read my Bible everything changed for me. Never once had the words “leap off a page” applied to me, and all of the sudden for me personally everything began to make a lot a sense. I achieved a sense of morality and as a result always strive to be the best version of myself -
2016
During the 2016 election, my love and passion for finding out the facts came into play. For the first time the election was impacting me, and I had the right as an American to stand up for what I truly believe in. -

I recently started reading more “adult” books. Books along the lines of taxes and political parties. The older I get the less I gravitate toward fiction. I read a lot of Christian books.
