In First Grade, we had reading logs that we had to get signed by our parents after every week. We had to go home and read for 20 minutes each night. I didn't look forward to this because at the time I did not like to read and I didn't think that I was good at it.

In Second Grade, our teacher read us a story about a pig Poppleton who always ate grapefruit. The book stuck out to me because I remember that my teacher brought in grapefruit for the class to try. I thought it was so gross, which made the book always stick out to me.

In Third Grade, I discovered the "Junie B. Jones" series and I absolutely loved it. At the time I still didn't really enjoy reading, but when I had to I would always choose to read one of the books from the series. I remember enjoying them and thinking they were so funny.

In Fifth Grade, I remember we read the book "Chains" as a class. This was the only book I remember around this time that I actually enjoyed reading and discussing as a class. Normally I would get nervous reading as a class, but I really understood this book which was different for me and I really liked it.

In Seventh Grade, I picked my silent reading book to be "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton. I took it from the few books my sister had in her room because I didn't have any to read. I had already watched the movie with my sister because she loved it, so I already knew what the book was about. I ended up loving the book more than the movie and sometimes still reread some chapters from the book.

During the summer going into Eighth Grade, my sister bought the book "Alex Approximately" by Jenn Bennet. I had never really been interested in reading outside of school, but I read the back of the book and decided it sounded interesting. I ended up reading it in two days and I absolutely loved it. It is the first book that really got me into reading and made me think of it as a hobby and not a chore.

Freshman year I got injured and was out of my sport, so instead I spent most of my time reading. "The Things We Leave Unfinished" by Rebecca Yarros really stuck out to me. I enjoyed how it went back and forth between the lives of the grandmother and granddaughter telling their stories. It told the story of the grandmother finding love during a war and the granddaughter finding love with the man meant to finish her grandmother's book.

For my summer Reading I chose to read "Beautiful Boy" by David Sheff. I had already seen the movie and I really enjoyed it. This wasn't a book I would normally pick to read, but it was very interesting and I really liked it. I liked how it went so much more in depth compared to the movie and I really think it was beautifully written given the story it tells.
