Library Books
Entering middle school is when I began to borrow books from the library to read at home. Sometimes I would read books for homework and sometimes I would read as a hobby. Reading books outside of school helped me learn so much more. -
Lord of the Flies by Lois Lowry
Lord of the Flies by Lois Lowry was the first chapter book I completely read, analyzed, and annotated. After reading this book I watched the film and was able to make the connection between the two. -
English 101 & 102
I completed my English 101 and 102 courses in high school. These two courses opened my eyes when it came to reading. My teacher provided plenty of different assignments to expand our knowledge to develop the skills needed to succeed in our future academic courses. -

Graduation Speech
When graduating from high school I was given the opportunity to write a speech and read it to my English class on experience. I expressed my excitement of seeing my growth as a reader from the beginning of high school to the end. -
Scholarships
Applying for scholarships was the time that I really looked deeply into my life and transferred my personal experiences onto paper. I was able to express my thoughts, struggles, and why I believe I was appropriate for the scholarship. My reading courses really helped me at this time because I would recall how the books that I read were formatted which helped me shape my essay. -
EDRL 407~Teaching Literature
This semester I completed my EDRL 407 course where I learned plenty of ways on how to teach literature. The content of this course really stuck with me because I was able to see how many diverse books are available for us. I learned the importance of incorporating books with culture and diversity in classroom.
