Reading History Timeline
-
Memorizing my first book
I remember being like 4 years old, and memorizing the “Hey Diddle Diddle” Nursery rhyme book I had. -
Reading on my own for the first time
I cannot remember when it was exactly. But I remember when I first learned to read independently, my brother had given me a bunch of Dr. Seuss books. He guided me a little bit, but my reading skills took off soon. -
Reading logs
I did not really have an interest in reading from 1st-4th grade. It seemed more like a choir for me, but our teacher required us to read 30 minutes a day. -
The Twilight Series
When I first fell in love with reading, I was in 5th grade and I had started reading the Twilight novel series. My nose was always in the book. -
Reading Award
Since I was so obsessively reading the Twilight series, I ended up receiving an award from my teacher. My reading scores increased dramatically, because I had been reading so often. -
Family library trips
My family had noticed my interest in reading and wanted to join as well. My mom often would want to read a book series with my sister and I, or pick out new really good reads for me. -
Safe Haven
When I was in 8th grade, I randomly borrowed a book from my English teacher. It ended up being one of my favorite books ever. -
High School
I want to say in high school, I lost my love for reading. I began to work as soon as I was old enough too, and I put myself in many extracurricular activities. I just didn’t have enough time. -
Flipped
I remember watching the movie Flipped with my aunt and thinking it was such a cute movie. She ended up getting me the book to read. The books are always better than the movies. -
Love for reading after high school
As an adult, I still have a love for reading. I am actually now trying to grow my library in my office. With such a busy schedule with work and school, it is hard to put time aside to read, but it is always worth it when I do!
