Starting as a child
I feel as though any reading experience that people will have starts when they are little, and I am no different. My love for reading started when I was young and my parents would read to me before bed. -
When I learned to read
As soon as I learned to read, I started reading to my parents. This is when my love for reading really began. -
Family influences
I started finding true interest in reading when my grandma would take me along to her book clubs. -
Continuing to grow interest
As my interest for reading grew, my dad would take me to the library every Thursday. -
School influences
I remember that the light switched on for my love of reading in 5th Grade. I had a teacher that encouraged my love for reading by allowing me to come to her every time I had a word I didn't know in any book I was reading. -
Fast forward to Middle School
In middle school, I didn't want to lose my love for reading, so I took a book club elective. -
Losing my interest but continuing
As I went into high school, I started losing my interest in reading. One moment that I still remember was in English class, our teacher let us pick our own books for writing and reading assignments. -
On my own
After high school, I moved to Nevada. It took some time for me to find a job here, so I started getting back into the habit of reading a book in my free time. -
Life gets busy but finding time
Although life gets busy and I have lost a lot of free time, every summer I delete all of my social media and read as much as I can in my free time. -
Present time
I love reading and finding new books from others. Between reading for school and on my own time, I still try to incorporate reading in my routine.
