No Reading
Since I was born, my parents never read to me as a baby or a toddler. -
Parents Divorced
My parents divorced and this caused them to become very busy as a single parent. They never read to me as a result of being too busy. -
Kindergarten
Kindergarten was where I learned how to read and where I did all of my reading. -
Elementary School
I remember doing very good with reading in elementary school. I always got good grades in reading. -
Middle School
Middle school is when I started to notice that I didn't like to read. I struggled with reading. -
The Struggles
I struggled in English in 9th grade. While we read Shakespeare, I remember struggling with comprehension. -
Wow!
The first time I actually liked reading, I was in 10th grade. It was my English class; we read "The Hunger Games." It was very interesting and it didn't bore me. -
English 11th Grade
I had the same teacher as I did in 10th grade. We read "The Great Gatsby" and "Of Mice and Men." I really enjoyed those books and they made me venture out for more interesting books. -
College is Crazy
When I started college, I was in for a rude awakening. I wasn't ready for all the textbooks I had to read. I struggled with finding a textbook that interested me. -
Today
I do not like reading! I am not able to just sit and read a book for entertainment. The only books I read are my textbooks for school. My parents didn't read to me as a child and this caused me to hate reading to this day.
