Parent Home introduction to Reading.
In order to begin my experiences with reading I first had to literally learn how to read and pronounce words. My parent introduced me to the basics of reading by reading letters and and putting them together in words. -
Kinder Garden Singing Lyrics
In kindergarten I remember my teacher would teach us how to how first read twinkle twinkle little stars and then try to sing it but it was almost impossible because most of us were still learning how to read but we were still able to mange to memorize the lyrics. -
1st & 2nd grade
These years I did not know how to speak or read english because I was a transfer student so reading was that much more challenging but I mange to speak it and read it within 2 years. I was able to one word after another creating sentences. -
Watching Movies with Subtitles.
During this time I would watch movies with subtitles and I figured I was learning how to read more affectively because I was learning new words. -
Vocabulary Quizes
I would take vocab quizzes that actually improved my reading skills so every time a came across words that I did not know I was easily able to pick up on them. -
Dictionary
Several of my teachers would makes us write down words from the dictionary alongside with their definition -
Reading Chapter Books
Reading Chapter Books helped me become a better reader because my teachers would go over them in class and talk about the types of writing like irony and so on. -
Annotating and Highlighting
Annotating and highlighting allowed me to grasp a deeper understanding of passages and encouraged me to read with a purpose -
Reading Often
Reading often also helped me become a better reader because I was consistent and without consistency in anything one may never progress. -
Taking notes
Taking notes allowed me to go back and reflect on the past main events that I have gone over and understand why, when, where, what, and how.
