daily newspaper readings
During this time, I enjoyed learning how to read. My dad would read the newspaper to me every morning as a strategy to help me recognize words as I was first learning to read. -
Dr. Seuss Phase
While in first grade, I went through a phase of an obsession with Dr. Seuss. My parents bought me a Dr. Seuss collection of various Dr. Seuss books. -

My First Book Report
In 4th grade I did my first book report. I was required to read the book and give a summary and presentation to the class regarding the book I read. Honestly, to this day I remember my presentation but I don't remember the book I presented my book report on. -
Reading for Pleasure
When I got into 5th grade, I started to read just out of pure enjoyment. I got my first library card during winter break in 5th grade and read multiple books over that break. Around this time is when I first started to really appreciate reading. -
Harry Potter
During the duration of middle school, I was Harry Potter obsessed! I read all of the Harry Potter books that were out at this time. I also reread a few of them because I loved them so much. During middle school my love for reading really bloomed. -
High School

Reading Program
During the summer of my junior year, I enrolled in a summer reading program at the Clark County Library. This program provided a summer reading list full of recommended books to read. I was also able to read to younger kids as a way to spread my love of reading to younger generations. -
My life as a reader today..
I decided to create an event of my life as a reader today. I am now close to finishing college and I still have the same love for reading as I did when I was younger. I am taking a Teaching Literature class this semester and I love it! I have been required to read two chapter books and many children's books throughout the semester as well as create a picture book project logging all of the books I have read this semester. It doesn't even seem like work to me because I truly enjoy reading!
