First Continental Congress
A meeting between the British North American colonies at Carpenter's Hall in Philidelphia. The meeting was a response to the Intolerable Acts. The result of the meeting was a Declaration of Rights and scheduled another meeting. -
Second Continental Congress
Delegates from the 13 colonies had a convention which happened after the Revolutionary War started. This lead to the adoption of the DOI. -
Declaration of Independence
Continental congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. This started the war with Great Britain. -
Articles of Confederation
The Articles provided domestic and international legitimacy so the Continental Congress could control the Revolutionary War. The National Government had very little power to pass any laws or regulations. -
Shay's Rebellion
Daniel Shays and a rebel leader came together to do an armed uprising to protest against the Articles of Confederation. This caused everyone in the nation to be fearful towards it. -
Constitutional Convention
After they gained independence over Great Britain, they discussed the issues of the current governing in the US. Instead of revising the Articles, they were forced to create a new government. -

New Jersey Plan
The New Jersey Plan was a response to the Virginia Plan that called for two houses. This plan favored the smaller states. -
