    Although Sir Raleigh did not lead that ships out he funded and authorized them. Philip Amada and Arthur Barlowe commanded the ships that sat sail on April 27, 1584.

    On July 13, 1584 Raleigh's ships landed on the coast of North Carolina. This was the first time England had thier flag waving in the New World.
