    Persian War

    The Persian War was caused because the Persians wanted their revenge after the Athenians helped one of their colonies rebel against the Persians The Persian empire tried to conquer Greece 3 times, but failed. The first battle won because the phalanx. The second battle, the Athens and Spartans united to defeat the Persians. The last battle the Greeks sink 1/2 of Persians Fleet.

    The golden age

    The golden age was when Athens became very wealthy and powerful as the leaders of the Delian league after the Persian wars. Pericles was the leader of the Persian war during the golden age and he increased democracy and made Athens beautiful. Athens showed wealth in its theater, art and its columns
  • Period: 431 BCE to 404 BCE

    Peloponnesian War

    The Peloponnesian war lead by Pericles, the leader of Athens and was protecting all his citizens behind the city wall. Athens goes under plague and 1/3 of the population dies. Sparta wins the war. This war was caused because Athens became too powerful and the citizens wanted to leave the Delian group since the Persians backed off, they began to fee the citizens and so Sparta formed a Peloponnesian league to go against the Athens

    Alexander the Great

    After the city states were weakened from the Peloponnesian war, Alexander's father, Phillip II took over Greece. Phillip the II died at age 20. Alexander the great took over Greece, he was a educated and well trained military man. he was guided by Aristotle and influenced by his father. Alexander conquered Greece and the Persian empire. He eventually died at age 33 from malaria.
