    Columbus discovers America

    Instead of taking the traditional route to get to Asia he decided that it would be quicker to just sail across the Atlantic. Taking this route instead of putting him in Asia landed him in the Americas, where he met the Indians.
  • The 13 Colonies

    The British started to colonize America for the land and the crops it had, There were 3 types of colonies, The New England Colonies, The Middle Colonies, and The Southern Colonies.

    The French/Indian War

    This was a war between the British and the French, also dubbed The Seven Years' War. It started when France started expansion in the Ohio River valley. In the end it was the British who won when they receieved Canada from France.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    This was a protest against the Tea Act, the colonials, led by Samuel Adams, dumped $18,000 worth of tea in the harbor. The situation further esculated after Britian passed the Intolerable Acts which closed Boston from all trade provided by the British.

    American Revolutonary War

    During this time war broke out between Great Britian and the 13 Colonies in America, it was started when the British instituted outragous taxes in the colonies. The 13 colonies united against the British, formed and army and declared independance and fought back until they finally won the conflict in 1783.

    The Industrial Revolution

    This caused many smaller british cities to grow tremendously, and provided many ways for people to get the things they needed, instead of making the essentials themselves (Clothing, Farming etc.). They would use their colonies to get all the raw materials they needed to feed their mass production of products for their people.
  • Writing of the Constitution

    This was the day when the Constitution was Signed, it took 4 months for the final document to be agreed upon, and was signed by 39 people. One of the large conflicts was deciding between the Virigia Plan and the New Jersey Plan which ended in a mixture of the two plans.

    Lewis and Clark

    The expedition started at their camp near St. Louis, they took about 48 people with them on the trip to the west. Their goal was to take soil samples and study the terrain, plant life, ecosystem, and to notify the Indians of who owns the land.
  • The Missouri Compromise

    This was Congress' attempt to fix the sectional and politcal rivalries betweem the free and slave states when Missouri requested to become a state. This created a imaginary line from the Louisiana Territory which was the boundry between free and slave states.

    Bleeding Kansas

    This was a period of violence between the people who wanted slavery and those who condemed it in Kansas. Those who fought for the slavery state were mainly Missourians and those who fought against slavery were just a bunch of anti-slavery groups. The state later entered the Union as a Free state.
