    Tuskegee Syphilis Study
    Men in Macon County, Alabama was studied by the U.S public health service to document racial differences between black and white people who had syphilis. The black men were never told they had or received treatment for syphilis. By the time word was spread about the study it was to late as many had already succumbed to the disease.
  • Palace of Justice

    Palace of Justice
    In Nuremberg Germany, a council was formed to discuss the crimes and lack of ethics that occurred in Nazi concentration camps during World War Two. The Nuremberg code was created which meant there would be principles put in place for future research that involved human participants. Leaders of Nazi forces were also brought to trial after the conference.
  • Zimbardo Prison Experiment

    Zimbardo Prison Experiment
    Twenty-Four men from Stanford university were selected to participate in a study over a six-day period that took place in a mock prison environment in the school's basement. The students were given the role of prisoner or guard and were expected to act on their role over the six days. The study was meant to reveal how unreasonable people could become given the right tools or power.
