Proto Renaissance
The Proto Renissance took place when Italian cities were at war and art was a way to show power.The black death swept Europe and guilds began to control trades. Artisis showed an interest in reviving Classical techniques.They were also influenced by the nascent idea of Humanism.Artists sought to create a three dimensional space to contain their three dimensional figures.They combined older techniques such as gold backgrounds and hierarchy of scale, with newer techniques such as the use of light. -
