    Little Joe Failed Launch
    On August 21, 1959, "Little Joe" the rocket was a failed launch. It was a solid fuel rocket that was designed to test the Mercury spacecraft Launch Escape and Recover systems. The rocket had an electrical leak and pulled the spacecraft away from the launch pad. It reached an apogee of 2,000 feet and landed 2,000 feet away. The flight lasted 20 seconds.

The Faith 7 completed 22 orbits to evaluate effects of 1 day in space. This flight was from May 15 to May 16.
