  • Democracy, Embryonic Stem Cell Research, and the Roman Catholic Church

This article talks about the debate over political and religious standards when it comes to stem cell research. In the end it says that democracy is the foundation of society and so we should follow its standards. Australia's democracy supports stem cell research.
  • Ethics and The New Genetics

In this paper the Dalai Lama reflects on the effects that stem cell research can have on humanity as we know it. He says that if we are not careful we may begin using the study of genetics for the wrong reasons and it can lead to negative results in the future.
  • Stem Cell Research and the Problem of Embryonic Identity

Author Phillip Montague argues that the embryo is not a human and should not be given human rights. He says that since that argument is eliminated, there is no reason why stem cell research shouldn't be continued.
  • The Ethics of Stem Cells Revisited

Miguel-Beriain gives a state of the art opinion on the ongoing controversial issues of stem cell research. He says that scientists need to come up with a new definition for the embryo. Additionally, he thinks that they are very close to finding a way to produce stem cells without harming a human embryo.
