  • Pendleton Act

    The Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act is a U.S. federal law, that enacted in 1883, that established that positions with the federal government should be awarded on the basis of merit instead of the political affiliation.

    The Antiquities Act allows the president to help protect the land in the wild or the national monuments around the U.S. so that people wouldn't disrespect the land or use it for other things.

    The Meat Inspection Act made a law that made sure there was inspections for the livestock when they butcher them making sure it was sanitary, and they would make sure the meat is okay for people to eat.

    Preventing the manufacture, sales, and transportation like poisons for other purposes.
  • 16th amendment income tax

    The congress shall have power to lay and collect the taxes on incomes, from whatever sources without apportionment among the many states.

    The Clayton Antitrust Act made it so companies couldn’t be an monopolies and take over where they can change the prices of everything and run other companies out of business.
  • Owen Child Labor Act

     Owen Child Labor Act
    This act was known as, “wick’s Bill” because, it was an old short lived statute enacted by the U.S. congress. For kids under the age of fourteen, to only be able to work for 8 hours a day. Many people who didn’t enforce the act, were subject to fines and prison.
  • 18th amendment Prohibition

    18th amendment Prohibition
    The congress passed the volstead act, and that set the date for prohibition on January 16th 1920. This act also defined limits on beverages, that contained alcohol.
  • 19th Amendment (Suffrage for Women)

    19th Amendment (Suffrage for Women)
    The Suffrage for Women is the law for the right for women to vote. Women didn't share all the same rights a men before this amendment, after the amendment happened women and men both have equal rights.
