Billy Bishop (1914-1918) - &*
Billy Bishop is widely known as Canada’s best aircraft fighter in World War 1 and played a major role in progressing Canada’s reputation. His contribution to World War 1 placed Canada’s air force on the map.

Military Service Act - *&
In late August of 1917, the Canadian federal government initiated the Military Service Act, which conscripted, or forced any man from the age of 20-45 to enlist in the military through the end of World War 1. This caused many disputes and division in the country.

League of Nations - &
A staple event that occurred in 1919 after World War 1 was the establishment of the League of Nations. It was an organization of 63 countries that “could achieve and maintain collective security and peace” that was established in the Paris Peace Conference that ended the First World War. The Group of Seven (1920-1933) - *
The Group of Seven were a group of artists that painted Canadian landscapes. Their paintings brought recognition to Canada’s various landscapes that painters usually thought not worthy of being painted and represented Canada through art in a large way. Their work and style has inspired many artists worldwide.

The Discovery of Insulin - *
On May 17, 1921, Frederick Banting, Charles Best, James Collip and JJR Macleod discovered insulin, changing the lives of millions. Because of this discovery, Canada’s medical research field grew exponentially and sparked the growth and innovation in regards to diabetes treatments.
