Privilege to rights

  • Women

    Women
In the early 20th century, women were denied most rights that should be granted to everyone. But changes were made in 1916 when women had won a right to vote in elections during 1916, only for Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. A year later, women were allowed to in British Columbia, and Ontario.
  • Ethnicity

    Ethnicity
Canadian laws made it impossible for foreigners to Canada be unable to vote or have a stand in what they believe in.
  • Criminals

    Criminals
Most Countries have it set where criminals are set out to be unable to vote. Even after released from prison/jail. This was until 2004 where a law was passed that they were eligible to vote after 2 years of release.
  • First Nations

    First Nations
It was not until 2008, that first nations had actually become respected and known, as well as fully given rights on their land. As if living on reserve and working on it as well wasn't bad enough, their complaints or anything really of what they said meant nothing until section 67 was re-opened and won. Human rights, something any living being should be granted with. No matter their sex or ethnicity. But it wasn't until recently that the foreigners to Canada decided that natives could have it.
