    Government Timeline

  • Meeting Comes to a Conclusion

After two full days of meeting with the President, Marissa talked with him through the trials and misunderstanding of the states. Equality wasn't present, people were being treated unfairly, and no one could make up their minds on what this country needed or wanted for the future. Marissa was stern when talking about this issues, wanting real change rather than just some words of affirmation. Therefor, she and President created the Abram Act of 2000.
  • Abrams Act of 2000 was passed

The Abrams Act gave every citizen a voice. Not allowing government to tear down their ideas without giving them serious consideration. Although, there were some issues that broke out after this act was passed. People began to riot as a form of expression, potentially harming people wherever they went.
  • Riot of 2001

10 months after the Act was passed, a riot broke out in New York City while some civilians were protesting their right to change the segregation in the business world. Business' were creating rules that only men could lead companies, with the idea that men could work better under pressure than women could. Over 4,000 women gathered in Times Square with the idea in mind to protest against this rule. This protest took a quick turn into a riot after a young woman threw a rock at a police officer.
  • Riot of 2001 Cont.

After 22 hours of violent protest post-rock throwing, over 375 women were injured and 29 were killed. This peaceful protest took a quick turn for the worse, and there was no turning back after the rock had been thrown.
  • President and Abrams Speak Out

The morning of the 26th, the President and Abrams gathered together in the Oval Office to have a press conference about the events that took place in New York City a few days prior. Abrams stated, "Together, we are one nation - we need to act like it. What an opportunity we have to spread love and positivity through this Act, but the people of New York City took it to a whole other level. We need to love, appreciate and except each other." Families across the country weeped listening in.
  • 5 Years Later

Families still mourned the death of their loved ones from the Riot of 2001. A mother of one of the women killed states, "These past few years have been hard, but we can't forget about what they were doing. I am nothing but proud of who my daughter was, she stood up for what she believed in and continued to support the women standing beside her. We will always miss her, but we know that she died doing what she believed was right. I'm proud to have been called her mother."
  • President Sets New Standards

After all of the hurt and heartbreak that came from that morning of April 22, 2001, the President decided, after six long years that it was time to put this to rest. He passed a new Act entitled "Marissa's Recovery" allowing for peaceful protests, but nothing more. This Act also allowed families of the ones killed during these violent protests to be given a voice to speak out on these tragedies to prevent them from happening again.
  • Recovery Period

12 years passed and the United States had finally recovered from the mass destruction that occurred. Marissa continued to stand alongside the President and encourage men and women to speak out about what they believed in. To this day, peaceful protests have taken place, the government had become more open to suggestions, and people were encouraged by Abrams and her positivity.
