Warren G Harding
1921-1923
- There was scandal throughout his entire presidency, mainly the Teapot Dome scandal involving government acceptance of bribes from oil companies.
- Fordney-McCumber Tariff Act increased tariffs.
- Emergency Quota Act limited muber of immigrants to 3%.
- Died from heart attack while still in office. -
Calvin Coolidge
1923-1929
- Took over Presidency after Harding died.
- Was in favor of business and the government staying out of it.
- Kellogg-Briand Pact outlawed war.
- Revenue Act of 1926 reduced income tax. -
Herbert Hoover
1929-1933
- Came into presidency right before 1929 Wall Street Crash and the Great Depression.
- Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act was passed to raise tariffs in order to encourage the purchase of American-made goods
- Added the 20th Amendment fixed the dates of term commencements for Congress and the President.
- Died at 90 years old in 1964 -
Franklin D Roosevelt
1933-1945
- Only President to be elected 4 times, led US through The Great Depression to WWII.
- Created the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), Agricultural Adjusment Administration (AAA), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
-Led the US into WWII after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
- He created the United Nations in order to ensure cooperation and world peace.
